Clubs Offered at Holt

Have you ever wondered what clubs were offered here at Holt High School or heard of a club and wished you had found out about it sooner?  Well, here’s a sneak peak of all the offerings:

Art Club [email protected] Art Club helps students further their interest in art.

Associate Student Council is a branch of student council. ASC members assist Student Council in their events and service projects. ASC also organizes and participates with their own service projects as well.  

 

Chess Club [email protected]  

Chess Club is about playing Chess. We meet on Wednesdays in room B404. Our goal is to help player become better player. We would like to go to tournaments and competitions. There are many in our area that we can go to. Feel free to stop by and talk with Mr. Cables anytime.

 

Color Guard [email protected]  

Color Guard performs independently and along with the marching band. They incorporate flags, rifles, batons and numerous other props in their dance to improve the experience of viewers.

DECA is an organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. Our ultimate goals for our members in DECA are for them to become successful professionally and for them to grow as individuals. DECA gives our members the chance to compete and qualify at the district, state and international level. Holt DECA currently has 176 members who are community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders and academically prepared. Holt DECA offers opportunities for members to hold leadership positions at the local and state levels.

Thespians and Drama allows students to experience the theatre lifestyle and become familiar with what it means to be a Thespian. They are offered the opportunity to participate in productions and other theatre events.

In Future Business Leaders of America we primarily focus on community service and competitions. In the fall, we take part in the homecoming parade, halloween event at Holt, we have a Fall Leadership conference, and we go pumpkin carving at the nursing home. We also pick one big community service event to complete around the holidays. At the start of the year, we have our district competition and then in early spring we have our state competition. The competitions consist of students competing in either an online test, role play, or performance event. If they place in the top 1,3, or 5 in certain events they qualify for state.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes invites all coaches and athletes that strive to encourage everyone to make a difference for Christ. They meet every Tuesday morning for meetings, which include breakfast, and perform club activities the last Thursday of each month.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America trains students to become leaders in their career, social and community issues.

A great way to become more involved with the French class offered here at Holt. Students can explore the culture and go to monthly meetings with other kids who have the same passion for the class and language.

A great way to become more involved with the German class offered here at Holt. Students can explore the culture and go to monthly meetings with other kids who have the same passion for the class and language.

A great way to become more involved with the Spanish class offered here at Holt. Students can explore the culture and go to monthly meetings with other kids who have the same passion for the class and language.

 

Holt’s Heart [email protected]  

Holt’s Heart is a student-led organization which works to inspire and empower students to live a healthy lifestyle. It provides its members with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop leadership.

HOSA is a club for students who want to pursue careers in the medical field. The members are the “future health professionals of America.”

 

Key Club [email protected]  

A service club that works to help the community and others around them. They meet monthly to put on service projects and discuss ways to help people around the school and their community. They meet on the first Wednesday of every month.

NHS is club for qualified juniors and seniors who demonstrate good character, maintain good grades, show leadership in all they do and service the community.

Robotics is for students who enjoy engineering and building electronics.

 

Scholar Bowl [email protected]

Like trivia on steroids, Scholar Bowl is for students who want to show what they know. The questions are hard, but there is a lot to be learned. Exploring categories like math, science, english and history, teams “buzz in” answers against other schools and try to get the most questions right in order to win.

Special Sports incorporates all students of Holt in less-competitive sport games.

 

Speech [email protected]  

Speech team is for students who like to make speeches or act and want to compete.

 

Band [email protected]  

Band is a family of around 180 dedicated students who specialize in instrumental talent and perform during marching season, in competitions and concerts throughout the school year.

Link Crew is a class and club to help Freshman feel included as they transition into high school.

 

Newspaper [email protected]  

Newspaper produce a monthly publication to share with students and faculty.

Holt Student Council’s mission is to create a welcoming environment at our school that encourages unity, spirit, pride and service from our staff and students. We do this by fostering leaders that organize memorable events, encourage communication and provide service opportunities to our school.

Vocal Music is a choir for students interested in pursuing singing.

 

Yearbook [email protected]  

Yearbook prepares the annual yearbook for students to enjoy by photographing events, interviewing students and creating creative page spreads.

 

Audacious Authors [email protected]  

Audacious Authors is a club designed to improve writing skills, while sculpting creativity through means which are not always given in the classroom setting. They meet every other Tuesday in room A108 from 2:30- 4:00.
