My Top 5 TV Shows of the Summer

Nothing screams summer more than finally getting to binge-watch that new TV show you’ve been pining after. School doesn’t permit you the time to get through it though. Summer vacation presents the perfect opportunity to finish that series. Summer of 2016 gave many new shows, and some long-running shows still reigned supreme in popularity.

1.) Stranger Things: The new Netflix original series from the Duffer Brothers was a smash hit from the second it was first released. When a young boy disappears on his way home, his mother, a sheriff, and his friends are shown terrifying things as they race to find him. The show stars Hollywood veteran Winona Ryder, along with a cast of new, fresh-faced child actors. This show is an excellent thriller; a must-watch.

2.) Grey’s Anatomy: The popular hospital drama still reigns as one of the most popular shows. The hit show stars Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, and Sandra Oh, among a list of other talented actors. This TV show follows the life of Meredith Grey as she struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues and keep work separated from her personal life as they fight to save patients.

3.) How to Get Away with Murder: This Emmy-winning show stars Viola Davis as Annalise Keading, an incredible criminal defense attorney, and five of her students that she has chosen to work alongside her. The students ruin Annalise’s carefully composed mask of calmness and everything goes haywire. In a thrilling drama series, the students and Annalise must juggle their personal fights while defend clients against criminal charges.

4.)  Friends: This classic 90s sitcom follows six best friends as they go through the highs and lows of their lives in New York. This show went on to spawn ten seasons and national praise. The show’s six stars-Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow-have some of the best cast chemistry in TV history. All ten seasons are now on Netflix, so this is a highly recommended watch.

5.) Scream: The new MTV series based on the popular 90s horror movie saga sparked wide success after  it was brought to Netflix at the beginning of the summer last year. This thrilling drama follows Emma as she is mysteriously targeted by a masked figure who begins killing the people around her. This show keeps you on the edge of your seat as you wait anxiously to find out who the killer is.
