Shooting for High Goals
The boys soccer team is like a family. They are all friends and share the love of soccer.
”It’s more of a brotherhood. We have a connection through soccer,” stated Jared Ferguson (’19).
Just like Ferguson says, the team is a brotherhood, a second family. They depend on each other to score a goal; without that connection it would be harder for them to score.
“We are a group of close friends. Outside of soccer we hang out, and we all work to the same goal,” explained Jake Teater (‘19).
The team has high expectations for the year. They plan to get the district title again, even though Francis Howell (the reigning state champions) has been added to their division.
“It would be good to get district title. If we get that, I hope to go further,” said Coach Gregory Schroeder.
They make high goals so they have something to play for, other than to win of course. The players have their mind set on one thing for now. Then once they reach it they will go further.
Practicing soccer five days a week leaves little home time. The boys practice hard for their team.
When it comes to juggling home life and soccer life, “It is not that hard. I head to soccer straight after school, then after that I head home to my family,” said Sam Rowen (’19).
It is quite evident that they manage to make time for their family too. The soccer team practices so hard to win. The first game wasn’t that great for them; they lost 0-2, but they made a comeback and won their second game against St.Dominic with a final score of 2-0.
