On the Road to Success

With the finish line in sight, Joey Harmann (18′) uses every ounce of strength and energy to complete the race.

The cross country’s sport is every other team’s punishment. You would think that they were all crazy right? Wrong. The athletes that make up the cross country team are some of the strongest individuals ever.

These athletes voluntarily run 3.1 miles without stopping, some can even do it in 20 minutes or less. Nathan Schweiger (18′) ran a 5k in 19 minutes and 38 seconds at the Jim Marshall Invitational, followed by Andy Rotter (17′) who ran the race in 19 minutes and 41 seconds, and Joey Harmann (18′) was not far behind with a time of 19 minutes and 51 seconds.

Emily Griesenauer (18′) ran her race in 19 minutes and 55 seconds, earning herself 1st place. Adrianne Bruckner (18′) had the time of 21 minutes and 11 seconds and placed 10th.

“The team’s working really, really hard this year and it shows, because almost everyone has improved their time significantly,” said Schweiger (’18).

Overall the varsity boys team got 12th place, varsity girls got 4th place, JV boys got 5th place, and JV girls got 6th place.

Joey Harmann (18′), James Schnyder (17′), Geoffrey Feagan (17′), Dylan Hicks (19′), and Noah Pieper (17′) all set personal records at the Fleet Feet Classic on August 23rd.

Adrianne Bruckner (18′), Rylie McLain (18′), Dremia Rever (18′), Elisabeth Dunn (20′), Alexis Garrett (’18) and Brianna Barton (18′) also set personal records at the Fleet Feet Classic.

“Running is hard, but that is what I like about it,” said Rever (18′)
