Get Down to Business

“Join even if you believe that there is nothing for you,” – Tysheah Gooden (’23)

Future Business Leaders of America is a talented group of young individuals pursuing their skill in various academic competitions and building leadership skills.

Holt’s FBLA team competed at state and won a variety of awards that qualified them to compete at the national level. The team that advanced to nationals for Broadcast Journalism consisted of Leah Huitt (‘24), Natalee Schwartz (‘24), and Addison Roberts (‘25).

“Advancing to nationals is probably one of the greatest experiences I will have in my high school career,” Huitt said. “I’m proud to have made it this far.”

Jack Graue (‘23) also qualified for nationals. The competition will take place between June 27-30 in Atlanta, GA.

“I did really well for not knowing what I was doing half the time,” Graue said, “and the fact that I was learning as I went along.”

Although FBLA is about learning how to be professional, they still have fun learning and being part of a team.

“My favorite part of FBLA is making friends with either people of my chapter or from the other district chapters,” Huitt said.

“At the two years I’ve competed at the state level, I’ve become way closer to people I can now call my best friends.”
