The tennis team has added eight new varsity members to the tennis team this year. Jennifer Nelson (‘26) is ranked number two this year and she is very excited for the challenges to come hoping it helps her grow as a player and a person.
“I really just have to focus on the angle and keep calm in the moment to continue playing like I know I can,” Nelson said.
When it comes to the game, Alexis Edstrom (‘27) makes sure when she is playing in a match that she remains calm and tries not to get inside her head for successful game.
“When playing as I get in my head I’ll normally look over at my mom. She comes to every match and helps me recognize when i need to calm down,” Edstrom said.
Camille Troung (‘24) is excited to join back on the tennis as a varsity member. Troung’s goal this season is to focus in the match in the current moment and not what is going to happen in the next match
“It’s very exciting because i’ve always been on JV and this is my first year on Varsity,” Troung said.” I totally get in my head, I try to focus on the point and getting the ball over to the other person.”
Amber Hutchinson (‘24) wants to enjoy her final moments on the tennis team before she lets it go and is off to college with glorious memories that tennis brought her throughout her years on the team.
“I’m hoping to enjoy m y senior year before i give up on tennis,” Huchinson said. “ My favorite part of the season is getting to spend time with my friends and grow closer with everyone.”
This team has made an impact on players and created special bonds and memories that they can carry on with each other in the future. When they play on the tennis court they remind themselves to not get inside their heads and to always remain positive.
