The final week of September 2023 was a hectic yet exhilarating one. With plenty of events for Holt students to attend, no one was bored during Holts annual Homecoming week.
While the week was kicked off with spirt day themes such as 80’s and jersey day, the true kickstarted to the events was the fall Homecoming assembly.
Holt students filled the bleachers with blue and gold for the spirit day and the assembly kicked off. As per tradition, the drum line played melodic rhythms and students getting hyped up for the games to come.
“It was exciting to see what the students had planned for the assembly” Ryan Bushart (‘25) said.
The assembly featured plenty of memorable moments, such as the limbo relay, which was later played again on Fox 2 News Pasta House Pep Zone, lively performance brought by the cheer and dance teams and most exciting of all, an ice cream relay played by the homecoming court.
Fall sports such as softball, girls golf, boys soccer, boys swim and girls tennis honored their senior members throughout the assembly, giving all student their moment to shine.
As per usual, the assembly wrapped up with science teacher Johnathon Ernst leading the schools spirit chant.
“It’s absolutely amazing. To be able to stand in front of hundreds up to a thousand students and say the chant. It’s an indescribable feeling to have,” Ernst said. “Which class does better? I wish i could say the seniors most of the time. If the seniors are actually at school for assemblies, they usually rock it out. But … when the seniors aren’t present, it’s usually the juniors. The juniors, do a very, very good job as well. It’s always the upperclassmen (who do they best).”
