All the sounds around you fade, drowning in the presence of your determination. All you hear is your breathing, heavy from the exertion, but that doesn’t matter. The game is what matters right now.
The name of that game? Volleyball. And plenty of people on Holt’s girls volleyball team swear by it. When it comes to getting ready for games, the team loves to be around each other and hype everyone up.
“We have hype songs. Currently, it’s Fireball (by Pitbull),” outside hitter and number 12, Emma Hieke (‘25) said. “It definitely hypes (us) up, especially when everyone participates. You don’t even have to be feeling it, but if you participate, you’ll start feeling it, which is fun.”
Number 3, Audrey Weber (‘25), is the team’s libero. When in the back row, teamwork is everything for her.
“We are always thinking about how to help each other,” Weber said.
Varsity team captain and opposite hitter, Macey Stuehmeyer (‘25), will never get tired of working with her team. “The energy that’s on and off the court is always uplifting,” Stuehmeyer said. Stuehmeyer is going out with a bang her senior year as she leads the team to being their best.
“Macey always helps pick people up. She’s a good teammate and captain,” Hieke said.
