As Holt High School opens its doors, and hundreds of shoes squeak against the tiles. New opportunities for our new school year are introduced. As excited faces flood the halls and loud chatter echoes, what awaits Holt’s new students For Evelyn Oakes (‘28), it’s all about getting involved.
“I’m excited to see all the experiences that come with high school,” Oakes said. “I want to join Educators Rising, Associated Student Council and Winter Color Guard.”
While some students like to join clubs, others, like Hailey Warmann (‘28), find enjoyment with sports.
“I was most excited about my freshman year with the dance team and especially the football games,” Warmann said.
While others anticipated on clubs and sports being the biggest change, Morgan Simpson (‘28) thought that the transition between middle school to high school was even bigger.
“The biggest difference is definitely the schedules,” Simpson said. “Middle school only had
lunch. Middle school also had no block days, and it started later. For freshmen like Oakes, Warmann, Simpson and Kaliah Burrage, high school offers opportunities to learn and grow.
“I await for a new opportunity at Holt High School,” Burrage said.
