Powderpuff at Holt is a highly anticipated event every year. The annual competition between the classes isn’t a game you want to miss. Especially this year, after the seniors and sophomores came on top once again.
Johanna Watkins (‘25) was making moves the entire game. With every touchdown she scored, the higher the tension rose. “I had a lot of fun,” Watkins said. “But the best part was the win.”
Powderpuff and all the homecoming events that followed gave Holt’s seniors a good mark to leave as high school comes to a wrap soon.
The sophomores made a comeback this year in more ways than one. Sophomores and Freshmen went against each other at this year’s Powderpuff for the first time in a while.
Sophia Lewis (‘27) said that her favorite moments from the special night consisted of the touchdowns she threw, and the celebrations that followed after.
“It felt so good to be out there,” Lewis said. “The practices, the game itself, and all the things after; it was a good night for me.”
Emma Henriquez (‘27) loved the new experience and playing with her friends.
“I signed up because I knew it’d be fun with (my friends),” Henriquez said. “After our win, I immediately celebrated with Lewis, Faith Cody (‘27), and Molly Spink (’27).”
The energy on the field due to the immense amount of teamwork was remarkable in the eyes of Cody.
“Winning with all my friends was fun,” Cody said. “We all contributed to the game in ways we felt comfortable in.”
