As the school year began, some seniors spent hours making the parking lot more vibrant. Student Council Sponsor Meghan Monk works with students to “allow seniors to have the opportunity to express themselves during their last year here at Holt,” ( Monk) painting a custom parking spot. Parking spots can be designed off of the seniors interests or things they love such as: “what they want to be when they grow up, favorite songs/artists, or any other interest” (Monk). To paint a senior parking spot students are required to finish the paperwork seniors create a design that must be approved before creating the full picture of the parking lot. As the summer comes along seniors must get paint checked and pay a reserved parking spot fee before starting to paint their spots.
Alayna Seabaugh( thumbnail): Alayna Seabaugh’s parking spot is from Taylor Swift’s 2008 album “Fearless.” Seabaugh said she chose this design because it was her first Taylor Swift album that she really started listening to when she was little, and it shows capturing all the memories of senior year with tennis, playing the saxophone, and just music in general. As Seabaugh worked on her spot she loved painting the fine details and creating her dream image, which the whole design took about three and a half days.
Sidney Crockett: Sidney Crockett spent her time designing the parking spot with her twin sister, Lacey, and her family. They created a spot to show their love for music as well as when they get to graduate together. Sidney spent two days painting and designing her spot with her and her sister’s favorite things
Emma Hieke: Emma Hieke spent more than 5 hours with her best friend to create a duo like mustard and ketchup. Hieke coordinated the color of her yellow bug to the her mustard designed parking spot. She also put the year she graduates to add detail her amazing spot. Hieke and her friend might be inseparable but the spots they made join together to make the parking lot more creative and brings character.
Addison Brune: Addison Brune spent her time designing a creative sunset to brighten people’s moods every day. As some of our seniors such as Brune decided to bring together the things in life that brighten her mood and make herself joyful. Her fondness for sunsets has lit up our parking lot drastically. She spent over five hours perfecting it.
