Holt’s Mock Trial

Holt’s 2016-2017 Mock Trial Team was the first team ever to make it to the regional competition.

The Mock Trial team consists of Ethan Babor (’18), Kaylee Young (’18), Abby Hunt (’18), Simon Osler (’18), Mason McGee (’17), Aaron Spiegel (’17), Carter Hult (’17) and AJ Fisher (’17). This is the first team Holt has had in a couple of years, and they have done exceptionally well.

Mock Trial is designed to mimic a court room. Teams are given a case and must play either the prosecutor or the defense. Members are assigned roles of  lawyers and witnesses. After winning the first case as the prosecution, they then became the defense and won the second case. The Mock Trial Team was ranked 6th out of 60 teams in the St. Louis Region during the Preliminary Rounds, advancing them to regionals.

During regionals, the team lost their first match against Cor Jesu Academy then won against MICDS. This wasn’t enough to advance them to the State competition. The Holt Mock Trial Team was then ranked 11th out of 16 teams at the regional competition.
