Prayers for Perryville
While those in Wentzville got hit by rain and hail Tuesday Night, Perryville got hit with a little different storm. A tornado touched down at about 8:00 p.m. and ended up ripping up a 15 mile path throughout the town.
Unfortunately, one person, Travis Koenig, age 24, was killed when his pickup truck was lifted off of Interstate 55 by the tornado. And due to the amazing phenomena of such a big storm, there were at least 10 more injured. However, it was the damage done that it is causing the people of Perryville problems.
According to St. Louis Today, out of the 180 houses searched after the storm, about 60 percent of them have suffered minor to major damage. About 60 houses have been completely annihilated, brought down to their foundations.
Those whose entire house is gone have lost everything, and Holt High School has decided to help out. Journalism is hosting a food, clothes, and personal hygiene items drive from now until Friday, March 10, and are imploring students to help out. Any non perishable items and anything that can be donated would be greatly appreciated. Drop off any items to room A108 (Swanson) throughout the week.
Please look through your closets and cupboards for things that can help the residents of Perryville who have lost everything. They will be delivered to the residents March 11-12.
