Humans of Holt-Zhane Alligood

Not one person is the same as another. People can be very similar, but no two people are exactly the same. At first glance,  Zhane Alligood (’19) is an average Sophomore in high school. She loves her dog, she enjoys surprises, and she has a very common interest: reading.

Reading is something millions of people in the world love to do and it does not seem like something that would make someone unique, but for Alligood it is. “The reasons I love reading is because it opens your imagination. [Every book] is different, there are so many varieties of books, and genres,” said Alligood. Just how every book is different, so is every person. Alligood came to love reading in a more different way than most people.

When she was younger, Alligood did not read many books at all. So how did she learn to love reading so much? “I just started reading more books on my own. When I took an SRI test in school, I didn’t do well, so I wanted to improve and so I started to read more books and I loved it,” said Alligood.

“My favorite books are between “The Devil” and “The Deep Blue Sea”. They are my favorite because they are about something different and [the books are] out of the ordinary, romance, supernatural stuff. I love books that are different, not your typical vampire and werewolf story. There wasn’t a chapter I did not like,” said Alligood. Though Alligood may have a very common love for books, she still stands out.
