Holt High School Variety Show
In Case You Missed It
Holt High School hosted the annual Spring Variety Show this past Friday. The show featured students showing off their talents and passions.
The show began with James Coogan (’20) playing the piano while singing a song entitled ‘Nothing’. The upbeat performance was a great way to start out the show. It got the audience smiling, and Coogan himself couldn’t keep his smile away.
Next, Caitlin Bishop (‘17) wowed the audience with her singing voice as she performed ‘Two Black Cadillacs’ by Carrie Underwood. Bishop’s powerful voice evoked quite an applause.
Grace Fugate (’19) played a song called ‘Kingdom of Hearts’ on the piano, and it was breathtaking.
Ashley Allen (’19) took the fourth spot dancing to the hit song ‘Unsteady’ by X Ambassadors. Allen’s emotional performance was awe inspiring.
Lauren Austin (‘17) recited a monologue she wrote herself entitled ‘Irrelevant Numbers’. The powerful monologue was centered around the stigma of suicide, raising awareness and striking a chord with audience members. A few guests were left in tears.
Next up, Isabella Nutt (’20) brought out her guitar and sang a beautiful cover of ‘A-Team’ by Ed Sheeran. The audience was silenced by her gorgeous voice and guitar playing skills.
Jordan Deeken (‘18) took the stage next dancing to a song called ‘Can’t Be Love’. Although there was a hiccup in the beginning with the music being off, Deeken started over and performed wonderfully.
Katie Thompson (‘18) was joined by her dad on the piano as she sang an acoustic version of Cee Lo Green’s song ‘Crazy.’ Thompson was seen getting emotional onstage, which awed the audience. The applause for Katie and her father was phenomenal.
Continuing on, Kristin McCray (‘18) and Tim Northcutt (’20) showed off their breakdancing skills. Their playful banter and dancing brought smiles to the faces of everyone in the audience.
Covering ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon, Owen Inglis (‘18) completely blew the audience away with his powerful voice and unique spin on such a classic song.
The final act came from Michaela Beedy (’20). She submitted a comedy video she made with her friends and Holt’s own theater members.
In the 2017 Holt Variety Show, scholarships were given to the top three acts. Winning the $100 third place act were the break-dancing duo Kristin and Tim. Second-place went to Ashley Allen, who took home a $200 scholarship. The overall winner was Katie Thompson, who won a $300 scholarship.
All of the acts were phenomenal. Congratulations, Katie, and thank you to all of the acts who performed in the show!
