Hurricane Harvey Wrecks Havoc on the People of Texas
The category four hurricane hit land Friday after 11 p.m. and has caused large amounts of flooding. Harvey is the strongest to make landfall in the United States since Charley in 2004.
Thousands of people’s homes have been destroyed, countless sentimental items have been lost. Rescue boats have been sent out to help flood victims escape their homes. Thousands of families are taking shelter at different locations. Texas has been littered with uprooted trees, signs, flags, and bricks.
“The Coast Guard is continuing to receive upwards of 1,000 calls per hour,” US Coast Guard Lt. Mike Hart said Monday. Houston police had rescued 1,000 people since Monday morning, bringing the total number rescued to more than 3,000 since the storm flooded the city. There are countless companies and organizations where people can donate to help the victims of this storm.
