The Right Direction
Holt High School is hosting two student led, one acts early next year. They will be almost completely student led and have just started production. Two students are directing the plays, one each. Rebecca Hawkins (19’) and Lillian Bancroft (18’) are the student directors this year. Each one act is a comedy and both will perform two shows. One each on January 25 and 26.
Bek Hawkins will be directing “Check, Please”. This a comedic one act about how bad first dates can go. A slew of wacky characters bombard two people trying to find “the one”. Special guests will make appearances during this show so make sure to get out to see it.
Lillian Bancroft is directing a comedic one act entitled “A Simple Task”. This one act is about the struggle of a bizarre first day of work. The main character, Empie, meets a barrage of obstacles while trying to retrieve a package for her boss. The play will have a subtle Alice In Wonderland theme.
The one acts will be performed at the end of January. Each show will have two performances: one on Thursday, January 24 and one on the evening on the 25th. There is plentiful seating but the best seats sell fast so get there early!
All the roles have been cast, but positions for technical crews are still available. See Mrs. Cortrecht for a permission form and email either director for more information.
This is the first year for the student led one acts and Holt theater is buzzing with excitement at this new opportunity.
