Holt’s Second Annual Alumni Panel

On Friday January 5th Holt’s National Honor Society hosted the schools 2nd annual Alumni Panel. Recent graduates came back to school for a whole day to give juniors and seniors an idea of what life after high school is like.

Alumni spent the first part of the panel introducing themselves and give one major piece of advice to the students before going into breakout sessions where the Alumni spread out across the auditorium and had specific things about the military, tech school and college they discussed with the juniors and seniors. Students learned the truth about things like dorm life, extracurriculars, etc.

Holt students were able to choose which categories meant the most to them and had an opportunity to ask more individualized questions. Students gained insight on the college life students, similar to them, are living. “I was conflicted between going into the military or college first. Now I believe I will be a part of the ROTC so I can go to college while preparing for the military,” said Megan Wood (‘19).

Students and staff worked for weeks to make the Alumni Panel a success and the panelists did a great job helping Holt’s upperclassmen prepare for the future.

The National Honors Society hopes to make the Alumni Panel an annual experience for juniors and seniors. Any student interesting in being on the panel in future years should contact Sarah Vogelman with their plans for the future.
