Holt’s PLTW Leads the Way in St Louis
Holt’s Project Lead the Way program has been creating a legacy for themselves every time they go down to St Louis for the annual Greater PLTW competition. Schools from all around the Missouri area come down to compete in this in hopes of getting first place and showing that their program is the best.
The event took place down at St Louis Community College. As for what they do at the event, students don’t know exactly what they are going to be expected to do.
“They know it’ll be a design competition, but they don’t know what it is until they get there,” said Ms. Gregory.
This year, the 12 members of the Holt team were to design a catapult and an air powered vehicle. The team worked hard together and ended up being really successful.
Out of the 32 teams competing, Holt brought home two out of the seven awards that were being given out. They got 1st place in documentation and 2nd place in teamwork.
Even though the awards were amazing, one of the best parts that happened was that the students of Holt beat Timberland. Not just in one category, but in every single category that there was.
“I’m very competitive and I have a lot of friends that we compete against. I always want to make sure that we have a good showing,” said Ms. Gregory.
Even though there were so many teams to compete against, Holt still came out on top. These students really showed was Holt is made out of.
