Varsity Boys Basketball Takes on District Championships
Come Out to Support!
Holt’s Varsity Boys Basketball team advanced onto the District Championships against Battle this Thursday, March 1 this past week and the team is all looking up.
Anthony Jones (’18) and Keishawn Forrest (’18) are excited to play as a team for victory.
“We gotta go out there and play our game,” said Jones.
Overall the boys have had a great season with immense support from Holt. This game means a lot more than just another sports game to some, though.
“I expect the team to try their hardest and give the seniors the best ending possible to their season,” said Forrest.
For graduating seniors Anthony Jones, Keishawn Forrest, Carter Collins, Spencer Bogan, Colten Arellanes and Caleb Murillo this is something they are going to remember.
The team gives their all to each game and one of the biggest tricks they have is undeniable teamwork. All of the varsity boys seem to get along wonderfully and it shows on the court, where energy is always running high.
“I expect the team to play as a family. I want them all to play for the name on the front of the jersey and not on the back,” said Jones.
The boys’ infectious energy is one of the first things fans at the games notice. From the opening chant they do, to the warm-ups, and to the starting announcements the varsity boys keep the hype up consistently. It’s always a big question; how on earth do the boys keep their energy up?
“For me, I’ll listen to music and I turn on Dreams & Nightmares, go in the mirror, blast it in my headphones, and rap the whole song,” said Jones.
Good luck boys, and congratulations on making it to District Championships!
