Holt Soccer Takes on Alabama

Last Thursday, the varsity girls soccer team packed up their bags and made the 14 hour drive to Gulf Shores, Alabama. This is their second annual trip to the sunny side of Georgia.

The girls were to play three games in a high school tournament with other teams from the Alabama area. The teams they played against were top teams in Alabama.

Even with the long bus trip, Holt’s soccer team persevered. Winning two out of their three games, it was safe to say that the weekend overall was a success.

It was truly a strong weekend of growth. Although the girls lost the first game to Vestavia (3-1), they pulled through for the last two games.

When Holt played Mountain Brook they won 2-1, and then for their last game against McGill they pulled through a 2-0 win.

However, not only did the girls play soccer, but they also had a great time down at the beach. They went to Orange Beach where the weather was nice and sunny compared to the dull Missouri weather.

“The beach was really relaxing and calming,” said Rachel Nolte (‘20).

While the beach was sunny, the games were pouring down rain. However, the girls pushed through so that they could get their first wins of the season.

Unfortunately, the trip had to come to a close. They took the 14 hour bus ride back to get back to another week at Holt.

They are back in action this weekend at the Parkway College Showcase, and their first regular season games begin next week. Come out to support!
