Holt Soccer Takes Home the Dubs
Last thursday the Holt varsity girls soccer team accomplished something that hasn’t been done before. They took the trophy home from the 17th annual Troy Tournament for the first time ever.
In the previous 16 years, Troy has won their own tournament every single time. However, through perseverance Holt was able to break their streak.
“I was really proud that we all worked together. Our team work is really good, we were able to push each other and pull through to beat Troy,” said Rachel Nolte (‘20).
In their first game, they played Lindbergh and tied 0-0. The next game they fared better against Ursulin and were able to take home win. With the win and tie, Holt won their group and were able to advance to the first place game to play Troy.
The game was a hard fought game with two quick goals in the first half and another goal coming from a set piece in the second half. The final score ended up being 3-1 and the girls got to take home their trophy.
This is just adding to their winning streak and current season success. Right now, the team is 9-1-1 and is ranked eighth in the entire state of Missouri.
They will continue their season this week playing Washington, Fort Zumwalt South, and on a saturday game, Fort Zumwalt East.
