Stress and Mental Illness
What is the cause of mental illness in young adults and teens? People say that stress may be the answer to the cause (everydayhealth.com). But what are the main causes of this stress that causes this mental illness? A majority of young people are diagnosed with anxiety, depression or other illnesses.
Some main factors of stress is issues in school. Abuse can be a big problem as well. Abuse can come in different ways such as emotional, physical and sexual.
Ways to help with this stress is to use coping mechanisms. There are many different coping methods to use. This could be by simply doing some deep breathing, meditating or getting exercise, and trying to identify your stress and see what you can do to resolve it.
Stress can also cause anxiety, along with depression. For people who have anxiety and depression it is sometimes difficult for them to function. High anxiety can cause anxiety attacks and depression could eventually develop into suicidal thoughts.
There are many different ways that stress can develop. There is always a time to discuss stress. It’s important to check up on friends and loved ones to see if they are doing okay as well. The student center is a good place to start to get help.
