A Chilly Trial

Emily Teisman

Frozen II is due in theaters this November.

The trailer (Link to Trailer) ensnared the media’s attention and held it hostage. Questions swirled in minds like a storm. Where are they? What is Elsa doing? Why does she seem so determined? When did Anna learn how to use a sword? Who is the ginger girl? Will we be meeting more powerhouses like Elsa? What does this chilly trial have in store for us?

Though hinted at in many films (one being Zootopia) after Frozen’s release in 2013, the excitement was still at its finest when the teaser trailer was released on February 13, 2019. The original voice actors have taken up their roles again, along with a couple new additions; Sterling K. Brown and Evan Rachel Wood. Though their roles remain a mystery. Rumors have also been floating around. One of which being a female love interest for Elsa. Idina Menzel, actress who plays Elsa, though not confirming it, thinks it’s a wonderful idea and is onboard with it. Another possibility is a deeper look at our characters, Anna and Elsa. This including their parents, Elsa’s power origins, and sides of our characters we have to see. All of which hold great interest to fans. A particular point of interest is the Frozen 2 teaser poster. At first, it is seems to be just a snowflake, but Josh Gad tweet says otherwise. What do you see? A pretty “snowflake” or a compass with hidden symbols in its points? Check out the SuperCarlinBrothers, YouTubers who go more in depth on the topic (Link to Video). But at the very heart of all the theories and excitement lie what is most important to the cinema world; people. The cinema crew constructs it, but it is the people, the fans, that make it worthwhile and actually bring it into the light of fame. Though small, Holt students are a slice of this cinematic pie. Many are incredibly excited, like Amelia Truong (‘21), who eagerly says, “NO SHAME, I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE SO BADLY!”

Others aren’t as eager, rather displeased. One member of this crowd is Benjamin O’Donnell (‘19). “I’m disappointed in society for letting a second one be made.” O’Donnell comments. Others, though eager, are hesitant. Isabella Burzio-Roca (‘20) is one of them. “Looks interesting but I’m scared they will mess it up because Disney has with every other sequel.” Burzio-Roca voices. Out of 78 students, 41 say they plan to go see the movie when it hits theatres in November, 23 say they won’t, and 14 are on the fence. Well, you have until November to decide.
