Martial Arts Club
Martial arts have been a part of history since its origins in China, as well as Japan (depending on which style is being referred to). Although many types of martial arts have boomed in the last few decades, such as TaeKwonDo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Kung Fu; the school system has yet to really incorporate it into students’ lives through public education.
But it’s understandable; schools do not want to be responsible for someone getting hurt. But to some, martial arts creates a community, as well as a group of friends. Having and being a part of a group of people that share the same interests as you can be very beneficial. So, how could martial artists find people from their school who enjoy doing the same art?
This is why I created the Martial Arts Club, or MAC for short. It is a way that martial artists can meet and befriend others who share the same passion. Although it is just an interest club (meaning that it is no-contact, and there is no actual karate involved), it still gives students a way to express their love for it.
And yes, there will be snacks.
Meetings will take place every Tuesday after school, in room 508 (Mrs. Hantack’s room). Some things that will take place include: watching martial arts movies, talking about martial arts, positive differences in styles, giving one another positive tips and asking questions, and mingling and making new friends.
Hope to see you there!
