Swofford Game
This Friday, March 13, the 20th annual Swofford game is taking place. This game is where the seniors play basketball against staff. All of the funds from this game goes towards two scholarships for seniors at Holt High School. These scholarships offer 1,000 dollars to a college of your choice.
This game is named after Scott Swofford. Swofford taught in the district for about 25 years then sadly passed away. Holt former staff member Dennis Baez formed this event to honor her friend.
Mr. Swofford was a very loved football coach and teacher, he left a great reputation for himself behind. He came up with the school chant “Do you love your indians?”
The Swofford game is a fun event when seniors and staff play each other.
“It has been so long since the students have beat the teachers, but this year is the year,” Erik Wyatt (‘22) said.
Many teachers often offer extra credit for students who come to the game or make signs for them. At the end of third quarter that could be very helpful.
You can get tickets from teachers selling them. Along with the tickets you get a pamphlet of coupons that you can use in any of your classes. The tickets are three dollars if you get them before the game and they are five dollars at the door.
