The Hamilton musical has had a huge affect on most of the population, whether they like musicals or not. It has an excellent story full of emotions, relevant humor, and rich history, so it appeals to many audiences. Something that also makes this musical interesting is that the entire production is all music. There are very few musicals that have actually attempted this, and even less who have pulled it off so artfully. Each song fits neatly with the next, and the plot moves along elegantly. The whole story playing out within the musical numbers also allowed people who could not see the musical in person to experience it in its entirety. However, with the new and upcoming “Hamilton movie”, everyone will have access to the musical whenever they like. 

The “movie” in question is not actually a movie, but rather a professionally filmed performance of the entire musical.  It will be exactly the same as going to see the production live, and it will even be recorded with the entire original cast. 

A majority of the student body will be anticipating the release date of this production, since a huge 48.5% said that they loved the musical. A large portion of the student body has still heard of the production, however 27.9% said that they didn’t know much about it. A smaller 7.4% said that they didn’t have an opinion, and 2.9% said they didn’t like it. The remaining 13.2% said that they had never heard of it.

Even though there are several who have not heard of the musical, the release of this filmed performance is sure to get more people introduced to it. The musical has had a huge impact on all who have been exposed to it. Whether it be from the unique style, amazing soundtrack, captivating plot, or even the small life lessons it gives, the musical continues to be one of the most well-written musical productions of all time. The release date has been set for October 15th, 2021, so it will still be a while before everyone has access to it. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of “Hamilton” and the original person to play Alexander Hamilton in the musical has been giving away a few details on what the final product will be like. Miranda knows that this has to be accurate to the original performances, and is working to make the final film as flawless as possible.

 “What I’m most excited about [is] you all have that friend that is like, ‘I saw it with the original cast.’ We’re stealing that brag from everyone because you’re all going to see it with the original cast. We’re just trying to find the right time to do it,” Miranda said.
