There have been many reboots of movies in recent years, one extremely popular one is The Lion King reboot.

Every year, hundreds of new movies are written and released, though not all of them are original. In recent years, movie reboots have become extremely popular, especially popular classics that everyone loves. A few examples include The Lion King, Charlie’s Angels, Child’s Play, and West Side Story. There have been many released in the last year and there are many more to come.

In 2019, we saw a lot of Disney remakes. The first to be released that year was Dumbo, the live action version of the 1941 classic. Next was the live action Aladdin, whose animated original was released in 1992. Finally in 2019 we got the live action version of The Lion King, which came out in 1994 during Disney’s Renaissance.

Disney wasn’t the only company releasing reboots in 2019 though. We also got rebooted versions of the iconic horror movies Pet Sematary and Child’s Play. Child’s Play, which follows the famous possessed doll Chucky, first came out in 1988, with Pet Sematary coming out a year later in 1989.

Although we got many new reboots during 2019, we will be getting even more in 2020. Already this year we’ve gotten remakes of The Call of the Wild, The Invisible Man, and Fantasy Island. Movie reboots that are still coming up include Disney’s live action Mulan, Death on the Nile, based on the popular Agatha Christie story with the same name, and West Side Story, which will be directed by Steven Spielberg. Though some of these upcoming movies may have later release dates than anticipated due to the coronavirus.

If things go according to plan though, we will be seeing live action reboots of Clifford the Big Red Dog and Tom and Jerry. Both franchises were extremely popular and people likely have a lot of nostalgia towards them.
