The Positive Effect

Even lawns, like these in Lake St. Louis, shows the positive effect with healthier grass and trees.

As all eyes are on COVID-19 and the majority of the news we see is negative. However,  there is a positive effect of the pandemic. Mainly its effect on nature. Nature as most know is a fragile thing. Offsetting the balance of nature is an easy thing to do.

Even the smallest of acts can upset the balance. Domino effects in nature are not surprising and quite common. A domino effect is a seemingly little change causing a major impact on the surrounding area. Many humans create these domino effects without even knowing it. For example, cutting down one tree, most do not realize it but many species rely on that single tree, and now since it is gone animals and plants alike are forced to adapt and move to a new habitat or way of life.

During this quarantine, the many imbalances in the environment are improving. For example, quarantine is reducing CO2 in the atmosphere, therefore, leading to improved air quality. Even nitrogen levels have been lowered due to the quarantine.

The wilderness can even sense the change. Animals have begun roaming city streets all over the U.S, and since more people are working from home, There have been fewer cars out on the roads, and fewer cars leads to less gas-related pollution.

As an effect of recent events, many daily lives and routines have been changed. Not only for humans but for many animal species all around the globe. Greenhouse gasses have a major effect on the Earth’s overall condition. So since emissions of this form of gas have been slowed the Earth is drastically growing.

Therefore, as a result, many animal and plant life have been reborn for the better. The environment has been benefiting and growing from this pandemic. Plants are prospering more than ever and animal populations have greatly increased. So even though quarantine has come as an unexpected event with many negatives, there has been a positive effect on the environment. So hopes are high for the Earth’s condition looking forward.
