On May 19, St. Louis Post-Dispatch released its 54th annual scholar athletes from all across the area, selecting one student from each school. A tradition started in 1965 by Hall of Fame baseball writer Bob Broeg, who wanted to create an honor for student-athletes who not only excelled on the field, but also in the classroom. The requirement for this award is to play at least one varsity sport and be in the top 25 percentile of their class, as well as showing character and respect throughout their high school career.
Claudia Adam was selected to represent Holt’s 2020 class with this award, as she played both basketball and softball, being selected as first team all-district for basketball (2019-20) and second team all-district (2019); second team all-conference (2017,2018,2019) for softball. Claudia performed just as well off the field ranking 46 of 454 academically for her class and receiving academic all-conference and all-state (2017,2018,2019) while also being a part of the National Honor Society, Student council, and A+ tutoring. Claudia plans on attending Illinois College and continuing to be a leader in and out of the classroom.
