The little boy is identified as Omran Daqnessh. He is only five years old. Omran was pulled out of a building during an airstrike in Aleppo, Syria. Omran only had a head injury, no brain damage.

The building that was completely destroyed was his apartment building. His family was rescued and only had minor injuries.
