Book to movie adaptations bring attention to successful books such as “Harry Potter”, “The Hunger Games”, “IT”, “Wonder” and so many more. Movie adaptations serve the purpose of giving book enjoyers a visualization of their favorite novels while also giving a new audience to experience these stories. Let’s see what Holt staff and students think.
Siblings Eva Danger (‘27) and Maria Danger (‘25) are both members of Holt’s Reading Club. Maria Danger’s favorite book with a movie adaptation is “The Princess Bride.” “(I like) the scene where some guy tries to poison the main character by turning their glasses around,” Maria Danger said.
Eva Danger has been enjoying “The Inbetween” by Marc Klein. “I like how it’s a romance book, but it’s different from everything you see on social media” Eva Danger said. ”There’s so many different strings that it pulls. It really is an amazing book.”
Faith Gravemann, Holts’ beloved Library Assistant loves the movie “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”. Gravemann said that she prefers the movie over the book. “I thought the movie was more lively, and it was more adapted to modern day,” Gravemann said. “I love how it plays on classic rom coms in the movie.”
Sarah Delong read “Killers of the Flower Moon” by David Grann, but she hasn’t seen the movie yet. “I’ve heard that the movie was really good,” Delong said. “The basic storyline of what people did to the Osage tribe… I’ve seen interviews and I know that (those topics) come across in the movie, so I think they did a good job with that.”
