Say Yes to the Bestie
Lexi Garrett’s (18′) proposal was “corny” but cute so Adrianne Bruckner (18′) just had to say yes.
Homecoming is right around the corner and everyone is scrambling to find a date. Flowers are being bought, signs are being made and everyone is saying yes to these amazing homecoming proposals.
This year though something new is happening. Instead of asking their significant other, students are starting to ask their best friends to be their date.
Emma Westerhold (18′) dressed up in a bear costume to ask her friend Blair Valdes (18′) to the homecoming dance.
“Blair’s nickname is Blair Bear, (don’t ask me why), so I thought I would incorporate that into my proposal. I was just going to give her a bear and a sign, but I saw the panda suit before I checked out and I knew I had to have it,” said Westerhold.
Westerhold is not the only one who decided to use a bear to ask her friend to homecoming. With a “corny” sign, some candy corn and a stuffed bear, Lexi Garrett (18′) asked Adrianne Bruckner (18′) to the dance.
“Adrianne’s two favorite things are candy corn and teddy bears so I thought that I would just combine the two,” said Garrett.
Megan Thornburgh (18′) didn’t need Shawn Mendes to help her get Kait Woodward (18′) to say yes to her Shawn Mendes themed homecoming proposal.
“I got the idea from Pinterest. She loves Shawn Mendes and and she got me addicted to him too so I knew she would say yes,” said Thornburgh.
After hearing her cross country meet had been cancelled, Kayla Hicks’ (18′) day got ten times better when Elissa May (18′) brought her a stuffed dog with a sign reading “It would be ruff to go to homecoming without my best friend” and her favorite candy.
“I was really upset because I had to get up super early for the meet, but then Elissa walked over with her hands behind her back and I thought ‘oh a surprise’. Then she showed me the PayDays, which are the key to my heart, and the stuffed dog. It was definitely the cutest way I have been asked to homecoming,” said Hicks.
Pokémon has become super popular in the last couple of months and Logan Birt (17′) used that to his advantage to get Karigan Mickeletto (17′) to say yes to his homecoming proposal. He “chose” a pretty good date to homecoming.
“I was really happy that I get to go to homecoming with my best friend,” said Mickeletto.
