SPENSA

On Saturday, October 22 the boys soccer team, Varsity, JV, and Freshmen, all drove down to Fenton to help out in the SPENSA event. SPENSA stands for Special Needs Soccer Association, a Not-for-Profit, St. Louis-based soccer program for young people with disabilities. Holt’s Soccer Team was able to play, teach and have fun with kids with all types of disabilities, and they loved it.

The players had fun by running around with the kids playing keep-away and even wrestling with them. It was all about having fun with the kids and helping them have the best time of their lives.

There were some kids who connected with the players more than the rest. “His name was Caleb and he was a special needs kids and it was absolutely amazing watching him play and running around and he always had a smile on his face. It made my day,” said Dom Smith (18).

“My favorite part was just the feeling that I helped out a kid,” said Brett Gittemeier (‘18). Almost everyone who was a part of SPENSA had an amazing feeling afterward of helping out the kids and doing something good for the children with disabilities.  “I felt amazing, I actually felt sad to leave,” said  Bruce Coffelt (‘20).
