Acts of Kindness In a Broken World

With the world crumbling around us, It can be hard to have any love left over to share with other people. When person after person hurts you, or horrible tragedies seem to have a domino effect, people become cold. It breaks my heart. The one thing that we need is love and kindness. Being there for one another is one of the most important things we can do in difficult times. It is something that you have to learn how to do, and it’s daily.

Every day you wake up, you get a choice to decide to be kind or to let the world get to you. Whenever I feel as if I can’t give any more to people who don’t give back, I tell myself to remember this quote. “Everyone has gone through something so terrible that it brings them to their knees, think about that before you open your mouth,” This quote means a lot to me. Everyone has gone through hard times that they never thought they would make it out of, we need to try and remember that before we judge someone. One of the biggest challenges in today’s world is being nice and being seen as someone who is weak or a coward. Being kind absolutely does not equal weak. Being kind is being strong because you are considering other’s feelings.
I know when people hurt you it seems easy to shut people out. Please don’t, doing this will make you feel so lonely and that’s not what anyone deserves. Being seen as a mean person is considered cool in our day and age. Go against what society says. Being the person that you want to be, that is kind towards others, who love themselves. I used to think that the quote “You can’t truly love someone until you love yourself” was ridiculous, but know I believe in it. Love and kindness is unselfish, it is giving parts of yourself to someone. You can’t give broken pieces to someone because that is unfair to yourself and them. Be strong, kind, and loving even when the world around you isn’t.
