Upset in Superbowl LII

On Sunday February 4,  the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots took the field at U.S. Bank Stadium and played one of the most memorable Superbowl games in recent years.

The Eagles offense, led by past backup Quarterback Nick Foles, were able to amass 41 points, 374 passing yards and 164 rushing yards in a great effort that was the main push behind their stunning victory. The Patriots offense, led by future-hall of fame Quarterback Tom Brady, achieved a total of 33 points,  613 passing yards and 113 rushing yards. Unfortunately for the New England dynasty, failure to convert on third down and not executing on many possible tide-turning plays led to their defeat.

This Superbowl win is the first for the city of Philadelphia and the first championship for the city in a decade. Being led by a quarterback who was a backup at the beginning of the season, who was even considering retiring only 2 seasons ago, makes this teams win even more spectacular. Without the impressive show that Nick Foles had in the game, the city of Philadelphia might still be a city of almosts-had-its and has losers.

However the Game did not just affect the city of Philadelphia, what about the losing Patriots? After all Tom Brady, does have 5 Superbowl rings under his belt, how does one of the G.O.A.T.s react to a loss like this? “Losing sucks. If you want to be world champs, you have to be in this game,” says Brady. But to the relief of probably millions of New England fans, Tom also says he has plans of coming back next year and sees no reason why he would not.

But despite the falling of a Gridiron God, or the fact that Philadelphia is burning right now in celebration, the city of Philadelphia are for the first time in their existence, Superbowl champs. Dilly, dilly.
