Dungeons and Dragons Club

“Will you come to my game?”

“I can’t, but I can come to one at the school.”

That simple talk with one of my best friends led to me creating a Dungeons and Dragons club in my sophomore year.

I went around asking and was quickly buried beneath people saying that they would come. I am currently looking at a group of 18. Which is a daunting number after considering 11 to be large, especially when that was at my house in a very large room and now I’m limited to a classroom.

For those who do not know, D&D is a tabletop game that takes longer the more people there are. It is also tougher to stay on topic and hear one another. I like to keep my games at about 7 players and under.

One person called the Dungeon Master, DM for short, creates and runs the game. So far there is going to be three different games, one that I will be running, and that my friends will run.

The other players will have a ‘character sheet’, a paper that has all of their information on it. It talks about their weapons and attacks, spells, health, armor, and arguably the most important, their level.

I know it sounds really nerdy and slow, and while it is pretty nerdy, it is a lot of fun! We do not just sit there in silence, we joke and laugh about dumb jokes and memes. Sometimes we even come up with our own inside jokes.

The majority of people coming to the club will be new, so if you have heard of it before or this is the first time hearing about it and you want to try, come on down!

Meetings will be on Fridays at Mr. Pruitt’s room, A109, every week. As for how late the club will go is yet to be determined, but either way, you can always leave early if you have to. You do not have to bring anything with you, but a pencil and some good jokes would be greatly appreciated. I hope to see you there.
