The debate between Samsung vs Apple can get very hairy.

Phones are slowly becoming one of the biggest things that we use on a daily basis. We use them every day, wither it is to check the weather, text friends, or post on social media, people can use phones for everything.

While everyone has a phone, not everyone has the same brand of phone. From Apple to Samsung there are many different possibilities when it comes to the type of phone you want, and each brand has its own pros and cons. While Samsung phones are normally bigger than Apple phones (even though that is slowly changing) Apple phones normally have a better camera. This fight has been going on for around a decade now; which is better, Apple or Samsung?

The fight can go either way, depending on your standpoint. If you prefer a phone with a good camera, an Apple phone would most likely be better. But if you want a more durable phone, Samsung would be better, because of Apple phones are more fragile in most cases. In 2019 alone, Apple sold 40.8 million iPhones, and that is not including other accessories that Apple sells such as Airpods, iPads, Apple Watches, and Macbooks, which are also very popular. Samsung, on the other hand, sold only 6.7 Million phones, which means that Apple was more popular last year.

One of the newer things about Apple phones is Screen Time, which lets parents control how long their child has been on their phone, restrict apps after a certain time, etc.

“On Samsung phones, our parents cannot track what we are doing or restrict us from any privileges that we have,” Lillian Barley (23) said.

Although Apple has a lot of ways to customize your phone, Samsung has a lot more options in customization than Apple phones such as your layout and what your screen looks like in general.

“With Samsung, you can customize your screen theme, which changes everything to match with app icons and messages,” Anna Cual (23) said.

Another big thing that affects which brand people buy is camera quality. The iPhone11 Pro Max has the best Apple camera with features such as zooming from the Telephoto all the way out to the new Ultra-Wide camera, for an impressive 4x optical zoom range. Samsung has a reputation for having bad camera quality and poor video quality.

“Apple has far better camera quality and a sleeker and modern design that attracts users,” Campbell King (22) said.

One of Apple’s biggest features is Face ID and Fingerprint identification. Both of these features are used to unlock an iPhone, use Apple Pay and even open your Macbook. Samsung only has a password set to secure your phone, which makes Apple phones more secure.

“One big pro of Apple is the Face ID and Fingerprint. It is a lot harder to get into the phone then just guessing a passcode,” Caden Bray (23) said.

One of Samsung’s biggest reputations is that they have very durable phones. Compared to Apple phones, which are more fragile in most cases, Samsung phones are a lot harder to break.

“I once dropped my phone down a flight of concrete stairs, and it only got a little cracked on one edge, which I’m really impressed with,” Marie Reiche (23) said. Probably the biggest factor for phone buying is the cost of the phone. An Apple iPhone cost anywhere between $1,099 to $499 depending on the model that you want. Samsung phones range from $750 to $1,600 depending on the model and the amount of storage. This debate has been going on for many years, and there will probably never be a true winner, but it really all depend s on what you want in a phone

“Apple phones are better if you want something with a lot of features and for fun, Samsung phones are better if you want something that runs smoother and for the functions of a phone, it’s not for all the extra apps and features like Apple phones,” TJ Riley (21) said. As long as both companies keep releasing newer, better phones, we are not complaining.
