Upcoming Book to Movie Adaptations

There are many new movie adaptations coming this year. One is the third installment to the popular Netflix movie To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series.

With this new year, comes many new movies based on books. So far, many have already been released, but there are still more to come.

This January, HBO released a ten part series based on Stephen King’s The Outsider and Hugh Lofting’s The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle was made into a movie, titled simply Dolittle, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland.

Then in February, Birds of Prey by Jordan B. Gorfinkel and Chuck Dixon was released starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn following her life after breaking up with the Joker. Next was P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han, the third book in the popular, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. The Call of the Wild by Jack London was released starring Harrison Ford as the main character. Finally, The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells was released, starring Elisabeth Moss and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

In March, the Stargirl movie, based on the book by Jerry Spinelli, was added to Disney+.

Still to come this year in May is a film adaptation of David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, titled The Personal History of David Copperfield. The Artemis Fowl movie, based on the book by Eion Colfer is scheduled for release as well as The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee.

This August, The One and Only Ivan movie, based on the book by Katherine Applegte, is set to be released this August.

There are many more movies that’s release dates have yet to be announced. Such as the Chaos Walking movie, based on the 2008 Patrick Ness book, The Knife of Never Letting Go and The Kissing Booth 2, based on the book The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance by Beth Reekles. Finally, there’s the Shadow and Bone netflix series based off the books by Leigh Bardugo.
