Gym Rats of Holt

Gym+Rats+of+Holt

For all of the gym rats of Holt, another added stress of school being closed is the addition of gyms being closed. Many students and athletes alike use the gym or their sports as a way to relieve stress. Studies show that exercise leads to less stress and a better body image.

But wait- what am I supposed to do when my gym shuts down?

From personal experience, my heart sank when I saw that my gym was shutting down for the next month. The gym has always been a safe place for me to go and relieve stress, especially in times like this.

However, with the times, we need to keep in mind that safety is the most important thing. Gyms are a great place for bacteria to thrive on: between the sweat and the machines, diseases are easy to contract.

I have always had a strong dislike for home workouts, before this I thought that they were ineffective and boring. What’s the point of working out if I can’t lift?

However, these last couple weeks have changed my mind immensely, and I want to reach out to others who are going through the same thing that I am. I have gotten some of the best workouts ever just in my backyard.

Ever since I quit distance running, I have quite literally distanced myself from running. So for those of you who absolutely despise running, I have a solution. Drive yourself to target/Walmart and grab a weighted jump rope. After you have successfully acquired said jump rope, go to the Jump Rope Dudes youtube page. They will change your life.

If jumping rope isn’t your style, there are many other great workouts that can be accomplished with limited space and equipment. The great thing about living in a world online is that there are so many great online resources.

Some recommended youtube channels:

  • Popsugar fitness- They literally have everything from cardio dancing to boxing. Don’t be fooled by their smiling faces, they’re gonna put you through a killer workout.

  • Lilly Sabri- Her ab workouts are ABsolutely killer. Stop what you’re doing right now and go try it out.

  • Chloe Ting- Okokok, i know you are probably tired of hearing about her on Tik Tok, however if you are just starting to workout or need a good workout finisher, she is a great motivator and will get you sweating.
