Many people love Halloween, the candy, costumes and spooky atmosphere get even adults excited for the holiday; but almost everyone can agree the best parts of Halloween are the treats. And one of the most classic Halloween treats us candy corn, but do people actually like candy corn?

A lot of people said that they did not like candy corn.

“Candy corn is probably the worst candy because it tastes like wax and sugar, there are literally thousands of better candies out there,” Sierra Romanski (‘21) said.

A lot of people seemed to be in agreement that they just tasted like sugar.

“I don’t like candy corn because it isn’t offering anything unique, it just tastes like sugar,” Morgan Romanski (‘23) said.

Some people did not feel any particular way about it.

“I’d say candy corn is an average candy. It’s not a candy that I’d enjoy eating 50 of, but I’ll have at least 10 and be satisfied. So overall it’s alright,” Hana Scheuermann (‘21) said.

Many students felt similar about not being able to eat a lot of it at one time.

“I can eat five pieces of candy corn before I start to feel sick,” Matthew Evens (‘22) said.

There were a few people who admitted to liking it.

“I like it because it’s the right amount of sweetness, and I like putting them in my mouth to look like I have candy corn teeth,” Layla Carabajal (‘21) said.

Other people just think it is a fun seasonal candy.

“I think it’s fine, it’s fun to have during October, it really helps with the spooky vibes,” Isabella Shelton (‘21) said.

In conclusion, it appears that people are not super big fans of candy corn, which is honestly not that surprising considering that hundreds of bags of it sit on shelves at stores until mid January. But there is no denying that this is an iconic part of Halloween that will remain for  a very long time.
