Sitting on the hillside, the scoreboard at Sobe Field awaits Holt to put up a winning score.

It is safe to say that the Varsity Holt Football Team hasn’t started the season according to plan.

0-30, 0-56, 7-42, and 20-28. Those are the scores of the first four games of the season. At first glance, the season may look bleak. However, those scores are in order. The last two games, Holt has gotten on the board, and they lost by just one possession to Washington on September 9.

Now, Holt has a very winnable game against rival Liberty High School this Friday, September 16, and the players outlook has changed.

“One of our problems was that we went into our games with a goal of not getting beaten badly. Instead we should have believed that we could win.” said Gabe Wargowsky (18’).

“We are going to work hard during practice and start working on our communicating skills to make up for this.” said Drew Law (18’).

“We had a good week of practice. We are ready for Friday and we just have to keep working.” said Joe Deuser (17’).

“I think it will be a good game and we should come out with our first win,” said Cole Mueller (’19), the only player to have scored this season.

The Indians are not going to let defeat damage their goals for the rest of the season. All the players are ready to bring their A-game against Liberty on Friday, September 16.

Let’s show Liberty who we really are.  Come out and support the Indians.
